Gr. 11 - Questions about electronegativity, combustion?

Alright, I have two questions.

1. Based on general electronegativity trends, which bond is more polar? B-Cl or N-Cl?

2. Write the balanced equation for the complete combustion of cyclopropane.

Is it something like this?

C3H6 + O2 -->

How do I know what it will yield?

  1. 1. Electronegativity values (approximate):

    B: 2.0

    N: 3.0

    Cl: 3.1

    The B-Cl bond is more polar.

    2. Yes, the reactants are C3H6 and O2. The products of complete combustion of a hydrocarbon are always CO2 and H2O, so write the unbalanced equation,

    C3H6(g) + O2(g) -----> CO2(g) + H2O(g)

    and then balance it.

    (If you don't know how to balance equations, send me a message.)
