Grace Hall posted her last work for the Kentucky Oaks at Palm Meadows
Second to My Miss Aurelia in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, Grace Hall, has been wreaking havoc on every track she has raced on, and now she is on the brink of immortality as she goes as the major contender to participate in the Grade 1, $1
million Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on 4 May, 2012.
Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables and The Elkstone Group LLC owned, Grace Hall was found on a sloppy track on at Palm Meadows training Center on 29 April, 2012, to post her final work for the Kentucky Oaks.
The protagonist for the Run for the Lilies, Grace Hall turned in a massive work to close down preparation, as the 3-year-old filly turned in four furlongs in 52.10 seconds under exercise rider, Carol Fisher.
Bred in Kentucky by Darley, the Anthony Dutrow trained filly is nicely placed at number 1 on the graded stakes earnings list with a whopping $740,000 with four wins and two second place finishes in her six career starts.
“I was told by Carol Fisher that she went very well and (the work) was good,” said Dutrow, who was at his Delaware Park stable when Grace Hall breezed.
“Grace Hall was all ready to go," Dutrow added. "I would have much rather had a nice, beautiful racetrack (to work over) yesterday, but that didn’t happen and it wasn’t going to happen today or tomorrow either. So we had to settle for a sloppy racetrack
and a half-mile in: 52.10. It was not ideal or what we were hoping for, but I’m not worried or concerned and I hope we get the same result Friday.”
The daughter of Empire Maker, out of Ezzoud mare Season’s Greetings, Grace Hall burst into the scene when after her maiden win at first asking, she bagged the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes and Blue Hen Stakes on the trot, posting a hat-trick before she finished
second My Miss Aurelia in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs last fall.
As a 3-year-old, Grace Hall kicked off her new campaign with a second place finish in the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes and then wrapped up the Kentucky Oaks prep race session with a win in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Oaks where she went longest for the first time
at about 1 1/8 miles.
