Grace Park determined to atone for lapses at Waterloo
South Korean Grace Park was unhappy with her performance at the second major tournament of the 2012 season — Wegmans LPGA Championship, but she definitely can atone for her lapses at Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, this week.
The Manulife LPGA Classic is slated to take place from June 21-24, at Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
Tournament officials informed that the roster has been confirmed. They said that the field will feature 144 players, and most of the top-ranked LPGA stars have confirmed their participation.
Hot favourite contenders include American Stacy Lewis, Cristie Kerr, Suzann Pettersen, Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Ai Miyazato, So Yeon Ryu, Morgan Pressel, Se Ri Pak, Shanshan Feng, who won the Wegmans LPGA Championship 2012, and Sandra Gal.
Officials said that the current world number one Yani Tseng will not be participating in the prestigious tournament, leaving much room for the lesser-known players to do their best.
Analysts said that although the field is featuring most of the big names of LPGA Tour (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, Yani Tseng’s absence will be felt.
They pointed out that the top-ranked prodigy usually attracts crowd, making tournaments livelier.
However tough the field may be, Park is definitely going to put her best foot forward. Having racked up 12 professional titles, the South Korean star is eyeing yet another title this season.
Park has also won the Kraft Nabisco Championship, a major tournament on the LPGA Tour.
Keeping in view her performance at the LPGA Championship 2012, the 33-year-old star appears to be troubled about her game, as she made many lapses during her play.
She finished tied for the 71st position. She was standing at the 66th spot at the end of the third round, but careless putting took a toll on her overall position.
Winless since the 2005 season, Park is now determined to get back on track. Speaking during the last tournament she played, the South Korean golfer said that she has been seeking to find form since 2005.
“That was the year (2005) after I had my best year out here winning 2 tournaments, Kraft, one Vare trophy, and I should have taken care of it back then,” she said.
