Gracie Hernandez captures Girls 500 yard freestyle title: 2011 High School State Championships
The 2011 High School State Championships saw several prestigious swims, in Redding, California, as Gracie Hernandez claimed Girls 500 yard freestyle title, while Noah Burrell earned Boys 500 yard freestyle crown. Moreover, Cydni Aird pocketed Girls 100 yard
back-stroke title.
Hernandez picked Girls 500 yard freestyle title by hitting the finishing cordon in a fastest time of 5 minutes and 18.79 seconds, while Kathleen West grabbed second spot in a mark of 5 minutes and 26.50 seconds. Robyn Evans earned third position in a time
of 5 minutes and 31.19 seconds. In addition, Rose Wyse grabbed fourth spot in a mark of 5 minutes and 31.30 seconds and Brigid Erlich settled for fifth place in a blot of 5 minutes and 37.14 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Boys 500 yard freestyle title was taken over by Noah Burrell in a winning time of 5 minutes and 00.92 seconds and Greg Lennon settled at second place in a mark of 5 minutes and 10.07 seconds. Additionally, Austin Lowry earned third place honours
by claiming the finishing barrier in a spot of 5 minutes and 11.04 seconds. Bryan Clements earned fourth position in a time of 5 minutes and 20.17 seconds, while Zach Bettner picked fifth spot in a mark of 5 minutes and 20.74 seconds.
Afterwards, Cydni Aird came out strongly in the Girls 100 yard back-stroke and knocked out her rivals, Keely Johnson and Molly Bateman by thrashing the finishing blockade in a fastest time of 1 minute and 01.80 seconds to take over gold title. In the meantime,
Johnson pocketed silver title in a winning mark of 1 minute and 02.20 seconds, while Bateman settled for third spot in a time of 1 minute and 02.22 seconds.
Kassandra Graham earned fourth place honours by touching the finishing barrier in an impressive mark of 1 minute and 05.13 seconds, while Janae Sargent settled at fifth spot by submitting a time of 1 minute and 05.51 seconds. Finally, the podium finishers
were awarded accolades after the end of the session.
