Question:

Graco infant seat base?

I know that you don't need to use a base in order to use the infant seat in a car, but I'm curious if all the graco bases are the same. Are they all compatible with any of the graco seats? We're flying out to visit my in laws about 8 weeks after the baby is born, and we have friends where they live that have a graco base they don't use. We were wondering if it'd work with our seat? Is it safer to use the base than just buckle the seat in?

  1. i think that they all do fit together the same. considering that the base isn't expired, and neither is the car seat. I personally prefer to use the base at all times. I feel like they are safer. But Graco says it works just as well with out it. I would ask your local fire station. You can just walk in and they will help you. Or you can call.

Hope I helped and have a safe trip

  2. i'm one of the parents that started out using the base as a newborn and then it just kept getting stuck.  so i dont know if ours was defective but it was a hassle to unlatch from the base and TRY not to jerk our baby out of it.  we opted out of using it altogether.

that's all i can offer. lol.  sorry, but good luck.  for what it's worth though, i think they're all the same.  i have 3 kids and they all "appeared" to be similar through the years.

  3. There are two different kinds of bases, as there are two different kinds of Graco car seats. There is a safeseat, which is the newer, better version and there is the Snugride, which is the older version. If she has a Snugride base and you have a snugride car seat they will work together, but if you have a safeseat car seat and she has the snugride base it will not work.

  4. the graco snugride and safe seat bases  aren't interchangeable. If your seat is snugride and the base is for a snugride it should be ok just make sure the base isn't outdated. my snugride base has an expiry date.  I found that I could always get the seat tighter without the base

  5. Not all Graco seats fit the bases.  My friend has a Graco base and my son's Graco seat did not fit into into her base.

  6. No.  The SafeSeat and SnugSeat have different style bases and the systems are not interchangeable.  If the base out there is the same as the one you have, it should work.

The bases help ensure that you have the seat at the proper angle for a consistent install.  If you can get a snug install at a good angle, it's perfectly fine to use the seat without the base if your manual gives you seatbelt-only instructions.
