Can a graduate student apply for the FAFSA?

  1. You can apply for FAFSA, but you will not be eligible for Pell grants as a grad student.


  2. as the answer above you should apply to FAFSA; however, unlike undergraduate education, you will not be receiving any need-based grants, only loans. Accordingly, that is why some grad students apply to outside sources for funds such as the DoD or DoE (Department of defense, department of energy, ie fullbright scholar)

    If you are going for a PhD; however, you will be granted a stipend that will fully cover your tuition and some of your room and board. In this case, your FAFSA matters little in that students fro the same department and school are offered the same amount. that is what i have seen from working in a graduate admissions office.
