Grad trip to Cancun, tips? place to go?

Question

Me and three friends are headed towards Cancun towards the end of June. We're all 18-19. I've done a ton of research on it already... seems like some things I'll need to check out are the

-clubs (coco bongo, the city, bulldog, club basic, sr. frogs, dady o')

-isla mujeres

-atv excursions/dolphin discovery

-mayan ruins (xcaret)

Anything else I should know about.... I'd like to at least check out 1-2 other things that aren't "tourist traps." We're staying there for a week, and each have a grand to spend (not including hotel). Playa del Carmen looks neat, along with some of the cenotes. Any recommendations for places to swim (cenotes/beaches/etc.)? Looked like there was some neat places to try ziplining too. Any recommendations on "booze cruises"?

And one last thing, what's a good price for a taxi?...I don't want to get ripped off.

I sit there and watched taxi cab person , rip off several men , I'm telling you the worse thing to go in taxi , they will try and rip you off ..........fair warning

another thing is too ......It's not SAFE to go there unless you've a man who looks like a body  builder ......there's nothing safe about Cancun.........

When you go through the airport .....keep your purse close to ya .............they will try and ask you to take your luggage , do it yourself .........

I pray you didn't go through the c**p we did , I'LL NEVER GO TO CANCUN again ..........I hate that place .........not safe .....

I'll stay in United states ...........

don't forget your PASSPORT ...........take a big man with ya ......you need security there ..............

I take taxi's all the time and I haven't been ripped off...but you do need to know how much the cost is before you get in. The the cabs are unionized and have set prices in downtown (where I live) the cost is $25 pesos ($2.50). In the hotel zone the price is more however the bellman or the concierge at the hotel can tell you...there is usually a list posted at the taxi pick up area of prices.

The hotel zone is shaped like a 7. The top of the 7- faces Isla Mujeres so the water is calm the bottom of the 7-faces open ocean so there are waves for body surfing, boogy boards...

Playa del Carmen is a great place to visit for shopping, eating, drinking and having a great time. The beach is nice with calm waters because of the reefs. If you like to snorkel or scuba dive...this is the place.

Hi there, the bus is the way to go my man. Cheap, frequent and fun.

You have to go to Xcaret. and if you want something a bit more cultural then definitley do the "route of the Cenotes!". There is a great booze cruise that goes to Isla Mujeres, best to book that in advance http://www.sicancun.com And there is also a good party hopper tour.

Believe me there is so much to do....
