Grade 1 Ladies’ Classic candidate It’s Tricky turned her final Breeders’ Cup work at Belmont Park
Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin for Godolphin Racing, 3-year-old filly It’s Tricky tuned up for Breeders’ Cup, she is pointed toward the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic which is to be held at Churchill Downs at 4 November, 2011.
The Grade 1 Ladies’ Classic candidate It’s Tricky is the daughter of Mineshaft, out of Catboat by Tale of the Cat. It’s Tricky worked in company with the stable mate called Redding Colliery.
It was the filly’s last work before the Breeders’ Cup race, and she was credited with a five furlong work in a bullet 1 minute on 26 October, over the Belmont Park’s main track.
The dual grade 1 winner It’s Tricky’s work was recorded by the Belmont Park clocker’s, as they caught her going half a mile in 47 3/5 seconds.
The filly is plenty fit, and trainer Kiaran Mc Laughlin was happy with her work. The filly was last worked on 24 October, and even then she turned in a pretty good run, but with the rain coming ahead her connections decided to give her a run on 26 October
and seal her workout session before the Breeders’ Cup.
Her connections didn’t do anything different with the filly, and kept her routine unchanged apart from going to the main track. All systems are go for It’s Tricky and she will be competing against some serious contenders at the races with the likes of John
Sadler’s Switch, Ask the Moon, Aruna, Pachattack.
The 2010 third place finisher Havre de Grace has been cross entered for the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic and the Breeders’ Cup Classic, but her connections are leaned towards the Classic and will not run in the Ladies’ Classic unless something goes wrong.
This season the filly won back to back grade 1 races, starting with the 1 mile long Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park on 11 June, 2011, defeating class females like Turbulent Descent and Her Smile on the way with the winning time of 1 minute and 35.48
seconds.
She went on to bag the 1 1/8 mile long Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks in her next start and aced the rest against even better opponents than her last race, Royal Delta and Plum Pretty.
