Microwave ovens cook food quickly. Using the particle model ( liquids, gas, solids, particles,) to explain why they cook food so quickly.

microwaves vibrate the molecules in the food, which leads to friction between them... and gets hot... hence it cooks food quickly... the food cooks from the outside in because wave energy hits the outside first and then the heat energy moves via conduction to the inside
