okay I have no problem getting this bike to the freeway with 7Xs. lol and I'm 6'2" 200lbs and I'm looking for a bike with better torque at 7Xs to higher speed. you know. so I was thinking about a 650 bike Katana or maybe a Honda.I'm looking for a 2001 model bike with good gas milage and torque and which would have bigger and wider tires and it should be reliable for commuting. It has to have a great value like my blast. Katana or Honda ? What street bike should i get for the best bang for my buck? any other ideas based on experience? BTW I get 60MPG on my 500cc blast and it has 130/80/16 rear and 100/80/16 front tires which wear really fast... It leans pretty darn good but I don't like the noise on the bike at low gears.

  1. I think the next bike up is the Buell KAPOW!

  2. the new buell 1125

  3. If you are looking for a deal and you liked your Blast, you could look for a late Cyclone or early XB9 or 12. I have owned many bikes and my Cyclone has been one of my favorites. I have owned and ridden many faster motorcycles, but not too many could compare when it comes to being fun. It will cruise all day long at 90 plus and it gets there pretty fast for an air cooled twin. I think it has 90HP and a load of torque. The best part is that my '02 with 6,000 miles on it was $3,500.00. I could have gotten an '03 XB9 for $4,000.00. If you want a deal, go on Craigslist or check out the Badweb classified section. (www.badweatherbikers.com)

If you want to really ride and not just pose, I don't think there is a better deal out there than a used Buell.

    Seriously!

Check out www.badweatherbikers.com. It's a great group. They helped me find my bike and told me what to look for and what to pay.

  4. Your best step up from what you are saying would be a Honda CBR600 of some type.  It will have a more aggressive stance than your blast (it's a fun bike, no doubt). and will seriously run like heck.  Not a good bike for a long tour, but it appears that is not your intent.  I ride a good old touring bike.  Not everyone's style, but that is alright.

Good luck, just be careful for this is a big step up for you, but it sounds like you are doing it right.

  5. I'd go with another buell as well.

  6. How about a Buell Firebolt XB12R, 103 HP@6800 RPM and 84 Ft.lbs torque@6000 RPM.

Reving to 9000 RPM to get any decent power and torque on the street can get annoying.  I prefer to make power at a lower RPM range on a street bike.
