Ok, so I am graduationg from high school at the end of the month and my parents are throwing me a graduation party, all of our family friends are coming, but they are telling me that I need to invite some of my high school friends. So, I was wondering what the norm was for graduation parties- do people usually have family friends and high school friends together at the same party? because to me it sounds kind of awkward!

  1. Yes, that is the norm, but I know what you mean about being awkward.

Here is what I did...Had a party that started about 5 for family with food and stuff then about 8:30 turned the lights down and started more of a dance. This is when my friends came and most of my older family members went home so everyone got to celebrate with me.

And those of my friends who had day parties, no big deal that family was there too. Everything is so hectic and everyone is going through the same thing anyway. Trying to hang out with friends and entertain the fam at the same time. You'll be fine ;)

    P.S. congrats!

  2. It will be fine - this is what we are doing for my sisters graduation party.  The adults will end up segregating themselves from the teenagers and while they are there for the same reason, each group will kind of be doing their own thing.  I know it seems awkward and it will be at first but once everyone settles in, it will be fine.

  3. yeah that sounds cool. i wish my parents would have thrown me one. if theyre your friends they will understand..you can always have the drinking party later or wait until a weekend.
