Graduation: Pittsburgh Steelers QB Big Ben success in education follows pro football career-NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, has been felicitated by his teammates, team officials and fans over completion of his graduation, which the player said was important to him, and reflects on the importance he gives to getting an education.
Ben had deserted his studies nine years ago when he turned pro and joined the National Football League (NFL).
However, he kept on progressing from course to course whenever he got opportunities in between his professional football career.
He finally completed his graduation this year and was conferred a degree in education from the Miami University in southwest Ohio, at a ceremony held at the university campus in Oxford on Sunday, May 06, 2012.
His family members who were present at the ceremony commended his efforts for education, which he successfully followed along with his professional career. Big Ben was among 600 students graduated from the university.
Before turning pro, Ben played the college league from the university from 2001 to 2003. Since becoming pro, he has recorded immense success in the professional league and has led Steelers to two Super Bowl titles.
He remains to be a popular figure in Pittsburgh for his talent, skills and personality. His local supporters and fans have congratulated him for the success.
Big Ben is expected back to join Steelers’ squad this year, following his agreement to a redone deal with the team.
Steelers have recently been through some salary cap issues and have revised deal terms of their highly-paid players including Roethlisberger.
The exact nature of reduction in his benefits under the new terms is unknown but almost all reports have confirmed that the deal also includes revision of financial terms.
The player is lucky to be among the few players who have been offered to work with the team under the revised terms. Steelers, otherwise, have gone straight with releasing some of its veterans, such as wide receiver, Hines Ward.
Also, it is for the first time that the quarterback is going to work with new offensive coordinator, Todd Haley, who has overtaken the place of Bruce Arians.
Arians was let go by Steelers in controversial manners and is now an offensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts.
