Graduation lunch etiquette?

I will be graduating in May and I've invited my boyfriend's family to my graduation lunch. The problem is, I don't really have a lot of money and I can't afford to pay for all of them; Would it be rude to ask everyone to go dutch?

  1. Maybe ask your boyfriend to speak to them and explain that you havn't much money, and perhaps they could all contribute towards the cost of lunch? I think that's what I would probably do!!!

  2. why don't you talk to the restaurant beforehand, explain the situation, and see if they can do a simple spread special for you and your party that's within your budget.  option 2-tell your boyfriend to mention it to them in a sly way and hope for the best. option 3- get up and go to the bathroom shortly after the check comes. since you're graduating, someone is more than likely going to pay for your lunch.

in the future, remember that the invitor usually picks up the tab!

  3. yes.

it sounds like you are going out for lunch...why don't you do this at your house...make something cheap like tacos or sloppy joes or sandwiches...pasta salads, side dishes, salads, fruits...get some cheap catering...

a graduation party usually does include food...
