Graduation present?

Hi! My cousin is having her graduation party today and i have no clue what to get someone as a graduation present. My cousin and i talk every now and again on myspace, i know she plans on going to college but i don't know where. i never bought someone a graduation present before and have no clue what is a proper thing to get.. should i just shop like as if i was going to get a birthday present for her?
