Question:

Graduation speech ideas?

I have to give a graduation speech based on a quote. I found a few but I want a few more options. I wanted a quote from a famous or well-known person of any time period. It has to be a quote that you can base a speech on so it has to be inspirational but not cheesy. Any ideas would be nice. Thanks

  1. I hope you can find something from this list:

    "Your time is limited,

so don't waste it living someone else's life

Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.

And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

They somehow already know what you truly want to become.

    Everything else is secondary."

    By Steve Jobs

    "Just keep trying!

Never give up, never, never give up!

Because the only person that can stop you is - you!"

    By Yvonne Thorton

    "Never give in to pessimism.

Don't know that you can't fly, and you will soar like an eagle.

Don't end up regretting what you did not do because you were too lazy or too frightened to soar.

Be a bumblebee! And soar to the heavens. You can do it."

    By Earl Bakken

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

    By Marianne Williamson

Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skilful execution and the ability to see obstacles as opportunities.

I would rather be ashes than dust.

I would rather that flame burn out in a brilliant blue blaze

than it should be stilled by dry rot.

    I'd rather be a superb meteor;

every atom of me in a magnificent glow

than a sleepy and permanent planet.

The proper function of man is to live, not to exist."

    By Jack London, American Author.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

  3. You gotta fight for your right...to party.

No, I'm just kidding.  How about:
