Grady Sizemore getting ready for the next season – MLB News
After so many speculations, Grady Sizemore has made it into the Cleveland Indians’ roster when he was officially given a one year contract last week. He is now working hard to do well in the next season despite facing many injuries in 2011.
Before his signing with the Indians again, his team options were denied by the management but later signed him as a free agent.
Sizemore’s consistent injuries were the main reason why the Indians first denied exercising team options on Sizemore but when GM Chris Antonetti showed confidence in him. He spoke with his colleagues in the Indians’ management, as the other executives followed
him while making a decision to add Sizemore in their 40 man roster for the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Regarding his preparations for the next season and coping with injuries, the Indians’ GM Chris Antonetti said, “We don't expect Grady to play 150 to 160 games like he has in the past, But we expect him to play the vast majority of games next year.”
Earlier, Sizemore has also said, “At the end of the day, this felt like the best fit for me, I wasn't ready to say goodbye. I wasn't ready to move on.”
The arrival of Sizemore will certainly help the Cleveland Indians to improve their results in the future especially in 2012. Last season, he batted with an average of .224 along with 10 home-runs, 32 RBIs and .285 OBP as he did very well down the stretch
in the regular season.
His presence has always benefited the Indians as a whole as he has been playing for them since he was drafted here. With seven years under him, Sizemore’s game has also improved tremendously and is now considered among the most consistent players in the
current MLB era.
Only time will tell what impact Sizemore will have for the Indians. The team will be hoping that he stays injury free and productive for the 2012 season. Sizemore will also be hoping that he can stay healthy and produce some decent performances for the team.
