Grady Sizemore’s double RBIs helps Cleveland Indians defeat Toronto Blue Jays, 6-3 – MLB Update
Cleveland Indians’ centre-fielder, Grady Sizemore had a notable day with the bat as he went 2-for-4 and scored one run including two RBIs in the Indians’ 6-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, Toronto on May 31.
Sizemore was amused with the victory as he said, “When you're struggling for four or five games, you want to stop it there. You don't want it to go for 10 or 15.”
The Indians got off the mark in the second inning by adding one run and took a 1-0 lead. Carlos Santana scored a single run on the double-run shot of Sizemore. In the third inning, the Indians extended their lead 3-0 when Michael Brantley and Asdrubal Cabrera
both added two runs collectively.
Fourth inning was score-less for both sides. However, in the fifth inning, the Indians exploded three runs to get a 6-0 lead. Santana doubled to right-field, Travis Buck scored a run and Santana moved to third base. The second run was taken by Santana on
the drive of Sizemore to deep centre-field. Orlando Cabrera singled to left-field and Sizemore posted a last run for the Indians.
On the other side, the Jays’ batters failed to score even a single run until the sixth inning. The Indians’ starter, Mitch Talbot also played a crucial role for his team as he threw six innings with an ERA of 4.50 and allowed just one run on six hits including
one earned run. Talbot had three strike-outs and walked three on his 99 pitches.
Talbot commented on his performance and said, “Defensively, we looked alive. Offensively, we looked alive. When a guy got on, we moved him over and got him in. That's what we were doing early in the season. Hopefully we're getting on track and getting ready
to go.”
The Jays started their runs in the seventh inning to reduce the lead 6-2 when Corey Patterson and Jose Bautista both contributed two runs jointly. The pitchers threw brilliantly and did not allow a single run in the eighth inning. The Jays were able to score
one run during the ninth inning when Yunel Escobar hit a solo homer to right centre-field. The score-board moved to 6-3 at the end.
