Graeme Dott looks forward to beat John Higgins at 2012 Masters – Snooker news
Scotland’s Graeme Dott edged past England’s Ali Carter 6-3 in the first round of 2012 Masters to setup a quarter-final clash with World Snooker Champion, John Higgins. On the other hand, World Number One, Mark Selby will go head-to-head against compatriot
Shaun Murphy. Both Dott and Selby are looking forward to unsettle their opponents in the quarter-finals.
The 34-year-old Graeme Dott was very impressive against the Englishman, Ali Carter and was able to trash him by 6-3. Both cuemen engaged in a tussling brawl in the first six frames, overlapping each other after every frame but in the end, Dott swept the
table in no time clicking the next three frames to win the match. The Scotsman now feels ready to take on the reigning World Snooker Champion, John Higgins in the quarters.
While speaking to World Snooker, he said, “When you play John Higgins you know you need to play well, my positional play can't be as bad as that. Even if John plays badly his standard is still high. I like playing all the best players, so I'm looking forward
to it. I know I need to play really well.”
Meanwhile, Selby finished his first round match against Stephen Lee after a thrilling competition. He stunned his opponent with a 4-0 lead after he grabbed four consecutive sets but after that, his opponent jumped back into the game and took four frame wins
to move within a one frame difference at 5-4. The next frame was a Selby-show as he pocketed a superb knock of 71 and won the match easily. Selby is now looking forward to have a superb match against Murphy.
Shedding light on his encounter against Murphy, Selby said, “I'm looking forward to playing Shaun Murphy now. I've known him since I was 14 or 15 and we always say it would be nice to play each other in a big final one day. Shaun's a great player, a former
World and UK Champion, and he's a great front runner as well so if he gets on top of me early he will be hard to catch.”
Selby will meet Murphy on Friday, January 20, while Dott and Higgins will play on Saturday, January 21, at the Alexandra Palace in Stock.
