Sheffield, England.
After a well-fought battle between both the players, World Number nine, Dott, came out on top to register himself in the quarter-finals.
The overall score-line between both players was 23-88, 66-26, 53-64, 2-85, 111-0, 60-55, 56-53, 58-56, 38-79, 64-41, 7-72, 6-90, 12-112, 1-115, 70-0, 74-60, 9-77, 63-45, 99-8, 93-0, 5-88, 0-104, 70-0 and 59-52.
The Pocket Dynamo, Dott, ended his opening session with a 5-3 lead. However, in the second round the Captain, Carter, fought back superbly to come in front at 6-8. He showcased dashing breaks of 112 and 115 to take the lead. Dott also bounced back into the
game and levelled the proceedings at 8-8, with dominant breaks of 70 and 66.
The third session had a lot of drama, as the world number eight, Carter, put his opponent in a position to win several frames, which he somehow lost. He was also leading his opponent 52-21 in the twenty-third frame and could have forced the decider, before
he gifted the golden chance to Dott, who killed the match with a modest clearance of 38.
Carter, runner-up at the Crucible three years ago, said, "I lost five or six frames that I should never have lost in a million years. I was absolutely robbed in a couple of them. That last frame was just a joke really."
Dott also supported his opponent and added, "In the first session I played terribly, and how I managed to win it 5-3 was unbelievable. Ali will be gutted. He's got to be. I think he cued better than me. I stole so many frames."
Graeme has now set up a showdown with the rising star, Judd Trump in the last-8. The match is going to be a very interesting one, as the Bristolian Ace, Trump, is also playing on the top of his game.
