Graeme Dott survives Rod Lawler battle to set up Mark Davis quarter-final clash: 2012 Wuxi Classic
Former World Snooker Champion from Scotland, Graeme Dott almost slipped his victory out of his hands in his second round game against the talented Rod Lawler of England. However, he barely managed to survive the toughest battle of his event run and clinched
the victory over Lawler by the score line of 5-4. On the other hand, Lawler gave his best once again in the event but this time he was unlucky.
Dott commented about Lawler and said, “That was me beat really, I'm very surprised he missed it because I thought, even coming off the cushion, that it wasn't that hard a shot. But match ball can be quite hard to get sometimes so luckily for me he missed
it.”
The clash proceeded the way it was predicted and expected as both potters came a long way during their event campaigns. The pair was very competitive during the whole match and displayed outstanding snooker skills.
Dott was relaxed when he moved 3-1 up at the end of the first session but his satisfaction did not last long because Lawler cruised back tremendously with classy snooker genius and moved three frames up at 4-4. Before he could do more damage and claim the
victory, Dott stopped his run and won the decisive frame to reserve his seat in the quarters.
While talking to World Snooker after his victory, Dott said, “It was a strange game. From 3-1 up I thought I was a bit unlucky not to win the match 5-1 or 5-2. I think the balls went against me at that point. But then I was quite lucky and managed to get
through the match eventually.”
Dott will next meet England’s Mark Davis in the quarter-final encounter at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China.
Emerging snooker talent, England’s Rod Lawler, booked his place in this season’s pro tour after putting an excellent snooker display at the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School). He started his 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event campaign from the
qualifying session and winning four qualifying matches along with a wild card clash, the Englishman booked his place in the televised stages of the event.
