Graeme Dott whitewashes Neil Robertson in last 16 of the 2011 Welsh Open – Snooker news
The thunder from the down under, 16 seeded Neil Robertson has lost his battle in Wales against Graeme Dott by a frame score of 4-1 at the Wyldecerest Park Homes Welsh Open in the last 16.
The current world champion Neil Robertson who had come from 2-0 down to beat Nigel Bond 4-2, in the last 32, fixing up his match against Graeme Dott in the last 16 could not perform at all. There were no breaks seen by the Australian in any match except
a 51 in the first.
The opening frame was taken by Robertson as he snookered Dott and got 20-odd points out of fouls from his opponent before making a break of 51 in the end to lead 1-0. They were seen scrapping out in the second frame as the reds had bunched up against the
black ball until a few small breaks like 19, 18, and 23 from Dott closed it 1-1. Robertson was not able to grab a chance for scoring a single point in the second frame.
In the third frame, Robertson got chances to be on the table first but the maximum he did in all the visits were 19. Dott on the other hand rolled in 53 taking away the third frame as well 2-1. Similarly, in the fourth frame the first man to score points
on the table was Robertson but after potting four he went out of the position and had to play safe. However, a little later a chance to Dott was given for which Robertson was punished as another break of 60 from Dott took him even ahead by 3-1. Dott was now
looking for only one frame to seal his victory.
In the last frame, Robertson was again not able to score even a single point rather he kept on trying to escape snooker where he gave 31-odd points to his opponent who already had a lead of 22. With the lead of 51-0 Dott finished the matters off adding another
53 to the score 4-1.
The overall score line between the players was 66-31, 0-65, 21-62, 16-61, and 0-106.
The former world champion Graeme Dott has now gone through to the last 8 where he awaits Mark Selby, who has beaten Mark King before reaching the last 8, on 18th February and we can hope it is going to be a promising match between the two players.
