Graeme Lowdon looking forward to a bright future for Virgin Racing Team – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team sporting director Graeme Lowdon is looking forward to a bright future for his team despite a disappointing 2011 Formula 1 season so far.
Lowdon has said that he believes the recent announcements about Virgin’s partnership with McLaren, Timo Glock’s new contract with the team until the 2014 Formula 1 season and their wind tunnel programme will ensure an encouraging future for the team.
He told the media that the team was frustrated due to their unimpressive performance in the ongoing season. However, he stated that he is sure the recent announcements for the team will encourage them towards their bright future in Formula 1.
Talking to reporters, Lowdon said, “It's quite clear we had to do something because there was a risk that frustration would set in. There are a lot of very experienced F1 people here. They've come from successful teams, and whilst they believe in what we
are doing, they want to see progress and move forward.”
He went on to mention, “But we've managed to retain that spirit and built on it, and now people can see there is a very credible future plan. A lot of people have put a lot of hard work in to get the team here, and hopefully we're looking forward to reaping
some of the rewards as well.”
The Virgin sporting director believes these new changes for the team will make improvements in terms of performance in the next 2012 season.
The Marussia Virgin team is still unable to show an impressive performance on the grid in the ongoing season. The team drivers have blamed the unsupportive role of their cars for their below par performance in the season so far.
Both of the drivers Timo Glock and Jerome d’Ambrosio have failed to score points for their team in the season so far.
In the recently held Hungarian Grand Prix, Glock and d’Ambrosio started their Budapest race from the 20th and 24th places on the ending grid and came in the 17th and 19th
spots respectively.
Let’s see how both of the drivers perform in the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
