Graeme Lowdon says Virgin happy with their current drivers’ line-up – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team president Graeme Lowdon has said that they are satisfied with their current drivers’ line-up of Jerome d’Ambrosio and Timo Glock.
Lowdon added that both the drivers are still trying to make improvements in their performances in the 2011 Formula 1 season. However, the team believes their drivers will show a better run on the grid at some point in the remainder of the season.
Virgin president shared the team’s interest with the media and mentioned that they want d’Ambrosio and Glock for the 2012 Formula 1 season, as they believe the drivers can do better for them.
He said, “We are extremely happy with the drivers we have got and we have no plans to change it. It is not unusual to chop and change your drive line up quite a bit but we have got two guys who are really good.”
The team had a poor start to the 2011 season, as both the drivers were unable to perform well on the grid in the initial races of the ongoing season. The drivers admitted that they were unable to make progress in their races due to lack of their car’s pace.
The Marussia Virgin racing team made several changes and developments in their new car and now their performances seem to be improving since the last few races.
Lowdon discussed Glock’s performance in the season and added that he is a real asset of Virgin team at the moment.
He admitted that the German is doing a good job for them and now he is well experienced with different aspects of the Formula 1 sport.
Lowdon went on to say, “I know Timo very well and we talk a lot about the future. He knows a lot about our plans and we know what his personal goals are too. We have an extremely open relationship so if anyone was talking with him then we would be the first
to know.”
In the recently held British Grand Prix, Glock and d’Ambrosio finished their races at the 16th and 17th spots respectively.
After the Silverstone race weekend, Virgin are hoping for better results in the upcoming German Grand Prix, which will be held on July 24, 2011.
