US Open; Graeme McDowell takes advice to avoid trouble
Graeme McDowell the fresh champion of the US Open went all the way to Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els to take advice on how to carry his performance in upcoming majors.
Graeme McDowell Irish by origin won the US Open at Pebble Beach in June keeping Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods tied up in the final round. This boy from Ireland has been partying before showing some stunts at the Scottish Open being held at Loch Lomond.
There is not much he can do as there is a very small gap between the majors but a little stress on a good game plan and keeping focused is what Graeme McDowell is planning to do. Not to forget that he is a record holder of winning at two of the toughest courses situated in St Andrews. Apart from this record he had a score of lowest 62in the Dunhill Links Championship in 2004.
Achieving this kind of status in golf has its own complacencies. It has its own expectation levels and its own pitfalls and to deal with that Graeme Mc Dowell has to schedule his game plan right. This is what the new champion has in mind, but then again he is looking forward to some handful of advice. The new consultants whom he thinks he can rely on are Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson, the same guys from whom he snatched the title last month. He is thinking of going over dinner with them, have a light chat over the issue and finding a solution to how these people dealt right after they claimed the victory.
The freshly crowned champion believes that he has got a great team of people working with him and they will advise him all the way so that he does not end up in some big pitfall. This is the new kind of confidence which victory has bought over the 30 year old.
"I'm a 30-year-old guy, 31 in a couple of weeks' time, I feel like I have my best days ahead of me. I'll be making sure I don't fall into any of the traps, speak to the right people and get some good advice and keep doing what I'm doing".
There are big goals for the winner in the upcoming season but at the present time Graeme Mc Dowell is all lost in the magical moments of Pebble Beach, and seems like he does not want to put them to a side after all they have changed his life in a whole new direction. Other than Graeme McDowell there are three other Irish players in the league as well. They are Rory Milroy, Darren Clarke and Gareth Maybin. Not to forget the 41 year old Darren Clarke is the same player who finished in the second position at Loch Lomond.
About Rory McIlroy he has missed the cut in the last two majors and is currently 13 over the par which makes him not so suitable for the upcoming victory but he is still one of the favourites after Tiger Woods.
When inquired about Rory Mcllroy his competitor he answered that for the age of 21 Rory is a very experienced man and that he knows he has been practicing on Thursdays and Fridays on the same course. He does not see any chances of over excitement or flukes him.
No doubt the 30 year old is taking advising from the players whom he believes will advise him good, but at the same foot it’s the mistakes that actually steers a real player on the right track. So even Graeme McDowell does something stupid, he still has a life time to prove his skills right. What more skills does he wants to show after he has kicked the worlds number 1 Tiger wood on the forth position and world 2nd best Phil Mickelson in the second position.
