Graeme McDowell’s desired run to Dubai
The Barclays Singapore Open ended on the 15th of November with Adam Scott atop the leader board. The golfer shot a brilliant 267 in total with 2 consecutive 65s, one 69 and then a 68 to finish at minus 3. While Scott ruled the top, Graeme McDowell
grabbed the third place at the leader board.
According to the order of merit concerns, McDowell finish at the Singapore Open has further threatened Martin Kaymer’s lead at the money list. After the 31-year-old grabbed third spot at the Singapore Open, he descended in the order of merit list.
According to McDowell, he had two main goals this year, to win the Ryder Cup match and then to play and win the race to Dubai. The 31-year-old said that these goals were made after he appeared in pebble beach and said that up till now he has been able to
fulfil his first goal. The 2002 turned professional said that he is striving hard for his second gaol. McDowell believes that the race to Dubai is the only motive for his 5-week consecutive play.
As far as the Ulsterman’s future plans are concerned, he will be tackling the Hong Kong Open this week in hopes of moving further up the money list. The 31-year-old may only need a minor score at this week’s event to bridge up the gap between him and the
German golfer in the summit of the order of merit.
The money list affirms McDowell’s toil for the top rather strappingly. According to the money list, McDowell is standing with a distance of € 367,600 from the leader. The money list is led by Martin Kaymer who still has two more weeks left to guard his position.
Where Kaymer defences seem strong enough to sentinel his top place in the money list, McDowell doesn’t seem far behind in holding up a much sturdy approach. The golfer from Northern Ireland would be playing in Hong Kong event which Kaymer has rejected in
favour of appearing fresh at the battle field.
McDowell thus has the chance to “making inroads” on the German golfer provided he wins the € 301,446 prize money from the tournament. The 31-year-old is aiming to take full advantage of the stark absence of the money list leader.
The Northern Irishman had earlier declared that he aimed to stand at a place where only one win at the tournament would change the distance he and Kaymer hold between them. With McDowell winning the event, he would also be winning the race to Dubai.
“It doesn’t seem like anything has changed at all,” concluded McDowell.
