of a match.
"Sehwag certainly is the most dangerous batsman,” said Pollock while talking to the media reporters on Tuesday. “He can be instrumental in turning a game around completely and give enough time to his team to go for the victory," he added further.
Virender Sehwag debuted for India on April 1, 1999, playing a One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 at Mohali. Till date he has played 236 ODIs compiling 7760 runs at an average of 35.11 and an impressive strike rate of 104.07. His tally of 7760 runs is
laced with 14 centuries and 37 half centuries.
The 33-year-old right-handed batsman is often criticised for his lack of footwork, but the former South African great reckons it is not a big issue and the batsman should not rely much on feet movement.
Pollock, who is regarded as one of the finest batsmen the game has ever produced, was not very good with footwork himself. He said that footwork is overrated these days and added that a batsman of Sehwag's style need not worry about it.
"You do not need to have so much of footwork. The kind of player he is, he can set his own rules. You have to set your own rules and follow them," insisted Pollock, who was in Durban to play in the second edition of the World Cricket Legends.
"Yes, footwork is overrated. You just need to get into a position, balance yourself and take advantage of a delivery. That's it," he added further.
Pollock agreed that Test cricket is being overlooked by too much T20 cricket. However, he said that one realistic reason behind downfall of Test cricket these days could be that the five-day cricket is not making enough money as compared to T20 and One Days.
The 67-year-old left-handed batsman amassed 2256 runs from 23 Tests at an average of 60.97. He never played a limited-overs game during his 7-year-long International career from 1963 to 1970.
