http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 tour on a high and believes that there is less pressure on an international team while playing away from home.
The Proteas have had a great tour of New Zealand so far as they outclassed the Black Caps in all the three formats of the game. South Africa won the T20 series by a margin of 2-1 before whitewashing the home team in the One Day International series. Graeme
Smith and company are currently leading the three-match Test series 1-0 at the present moment.
The South African captain has shown brilliant form in the Test series as he has scored 236 runs in only two matches, which includes one century and a couple of half-centuries. However, the left-handed opener is in no mood to relax as he wants to consistently
score runs at the highest stage of the game.
Smith said that usually there is more pressure on his team to deliver the goods at home and the Proteas have played without too much pressure in New Zealand and this is the reason behind their success. While talking about his personal performance, Smith
expressed that he is a professional cricketer and his hunger for runs is always there.
He expressed, "It's been a tough summer but, if you are not successful in a home summer the pressure - with your own crowds and your own media - does feel a whole lot more than when you're away. In professional sport, you want to be as ruthless as possible.”
The Test captain feels that the third Test of the series is going to be a challenge for the visiting team as the conditions will favour the seam bowlers of New Zealand. However, he wants to end this tour on a high by winning the Wellington Test.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wellington-c864 can be a tough venue for a touring team with the conditions you can face there, particularly the wind at the Basin. We would like to finish this tour strongly because it has been a terrific tour for us. We've still got a lot of improving to do,”
