Graeme Swann, James Anderson declared fit for warm-up game
There was good news for England as their premier bowlers, James Anderson and Graeme Swann were declared fit for their first warm-up game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 that begins from 5 November at WACA in
Perth.
England will look to field all their main guys in the three-day warm-up game and could field the same side for the first Test match at Brisbane as well.
Anderson who had injured his ribs during a boot camp in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Germany-c2904 was said to be out for more time but he seems to have made quick recovery and bowled at full throttle in the nets. On the other hand, Swann
had been hit on his knuckles and there was worry of him missing out some of the warm-up games in the lead-up to the first Test.
Apart from the injury issues, the warm-up game will allow the visitors to decide on a couple of spots still up for grabs for the Brisbane game. It is unsure whether Ian Bell will get into the playing eleven
of the English team while the third pace bowler’s slot will also be discussed.
The team management is also toying with the idea of sending their main pace bowlers beforehand to Brisbane to get used to the conditions. However, that could mean that they will miss the third warm-up game
that England will play against Australia A just prior to the start of the Test match.
England’s captain Andrew Strauss was non-committal about the idea. He said, "It's one of the options we're looking at. Nothing is clear enough to say that categorically at this stage. We're not 100 per cent
sure what the Test attack is going to be."
England hasn't won an Ashes in Australia since 1987 and will go into the series as favourites for the first time in 23 years.
