England’s off-spinner, Graeme Swann, feels the decision of Australian selectors to snub Nathan Hauritz for the Sydney Test will work in favour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. Swann believes the continued absence of Hauritz from the Ashes campaign was
the best thing Australia could have done for the tourists.
"He bowled well against England two years ago and I certainly think he was a guy who caused a few of our players some problems,” said Graeme Swann.
The experienced Australia off-spinner was left out in the Ashes opener at Gabba, Brisbane, in favour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 in the
Sheffield Shield tournament.
The state tournament saw Hauritz compiling two first-class centuries. He claimed his match-winning career-best bowling figures of 5 for 27 in Blue’s 199-run win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 at WACA, Perth.
Ryan Harris’s ankle injury in the Boxing Day Test created vacancy for a bowler in the Australia squad and Dough Bollinger was called back to compete uncapped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949, for a place in the Ashes finale, despite the fact that SCG is not supposed to be a
preferred track for a four-pronged pace attack.
Chances of Beer making a debut on Monday are more than Bollinger’s comeback, but what surprises the followers of cricket is favouring an inexperienced Beer over Nathan Hauritz, whose experience of SCG (his home venue) could have been quite helpful for Australia
in a match which they need to win at any cost to avoid a series defeat.
Beer conceded that he has never been to the Sydney Cricket Ground.
"Experience? You'd say zero," said Beer. "This is the first time I've been inside the SCG today. It looks different on TV," added the excited Western Australia off-spinner.
Graeme Swann said that he did not understand the selection policy of Cricket Australia, adding that Hauritz does not deserve to miss out the whole series.
"I generally feel sorry for him," he said. "I don't think he deserved to miss out on this whole series. I don't understand why he has not been given a shout, but that is good for us."
