Graeme Swann fit despite injury scare
The England cricket team has announced spinner Graeme Swann will be fit and ready for the Ashes despite a blow to the hand.
Swann was hit by the bowling of Tim Bresnan and immediately pulled away looking in a great deal of pain. There were early fears that Swann may have broken a finger, which would have hampered his bowling
this winter.
"He's fine. It's just a bit of precautionary strapping.
I don't think he's in any trouble at all. He just got a bit of a blow, which you're used to in nets," said Swann's teammate Stuart Broad.
Swann is one of the most important bowlers in the England team and it's important officials make sure he is protected throughout England's
warm up. Any Swann absence from the team could mean a drought for wickets.
An important player
Swann is an important player for a variety of reasons. He is the only English bowler ranked in the International Cricket Counci's top five
Test match bowlers from around the world.
It's easy to forget about Swann's versatility because of how successful he's been in terms of wicket taking. Swann can just as easily bowl
defensively and at times he will need to during a long five match Test series.
Swann has never been afraid of getting stuck into the opposition since he won a Test place. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is going to target Swann as the player
to bully out of the attack but this sort of challenge may only serve to inspire Swann and make him more resilient.
The sensible thing for England to do now is wrap Swann up in cotton wool. It is naive to suggest that he doesn't need fitness work or practice
but any unnecessary absence from the team will take a lot of wickets out of the equation.
Betting advice
Swann is the most important bowler in the England side. He has 113 Test wickets to date and this figure could be near 140 by the time the
Ashes is over. Back him to take a five-for in any game.
