http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 happy to see youngsters in England’s Twenty20 squad - Cricket News Update
England’s stand-in captain for the Twenty20 side, Graeme Swann, is content with the talent at his disposal. The off-spinner is happy to see England opting for young blood in the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Swann expects the young guns of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 to fire in the series and wants them to enjoy every moment of the game.
“We are world champions in this format and very proud of that. These young guys are coming into a pressure situation but we believe they are good enough to cope with that and I'm sure they'll enjoy it once they get onto the park
and realise what a good time we have as a group. They'll love being a part of that,” said Swann.
This is for the first time in Swann’s cricketing career that the off-spinner will be leading England’s national side. The 32-year-old bowler was selected as an interim skipper after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 was ruled out due to a shoulder
injury. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032, the left-hand batsman, would have been leading the side in Broad’s absence had he not picked up an injury himself.
Apart from Broad and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, who despite being a
prominent part of the ODI team is not considered as a Twenty20 player.
Swann believes that lack of seniors players won’t hurt England much and that cricket is such a game that superstars will emerge every now and then. The off-spinner holds true that there are four to five players in current squad
who have the potential to be megastars.
Encoring the youngsters, Swann said, “There will be the odd player that comes back in but cricket is one of those games where new superstars emerge all the time and this team has the potential to have four or five megastars. We've
got the potential to have the most exciting top six in world cricket which is great.”
The Poms are scheduled to host the Caribbean side for two Twenty20 matches, which be played at the Oval on Friday, September 23 and Sunday, September 25 respectively.
Initially, this series was not part of International Cricket Council’s (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) Future Tours Programme (FTP), but was arranged for ECB to meet its contractual obligations to the broadcasters.
