Azhar Ali, the top-order batsman from Pakistan, feels that England’s off-spinner, Graeme Swann, is going to be a big threat for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) and expressed that the Green Shirts would have to be at their
best if they are to beat the number one ranked Test team of the world.
The series between the two teams is scheduled to start from January 17, 2011, with the first Test at Dubai. The last time these two teams met, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 defeated Pakistan at home by a margin of 3-1. On top of that, the spot-fixing controversy arose during
that series in 2010.
However, a number of cricket analysts around the world feel that the result is going to be different this time round because the conditions are going to suit the Pakistani team and other than that, the Green Shirts have been doing very well in the recent
past.
Speaking to Pakpassion, Azhar expressed that the biggest threat for Pakistan is going to be Swann, who did well in the last series against Pakistan as well. The pitches in UAE may help the slow bowlers and Swann has the ability to spoil the party for the
Green Shirts.
Azhar said, “England has a very good bowling line up and Swann is an excellent spinner. He has been consistent and troubled batsmen around the world.”
While talking about the strength of the English team, the right-handed batsman from Lahore said that they are the number one ranked Test team of the world and they seem to be strong in all the departments of the game. He urged the Pakistani team to be on
their toes, if they are to beat England.
“They are the number one test side in the world and you don’t get that accolade without deserving it. They have no obvious weaknesses, have been playing some fantastic cricket in recent times. We need to be on top of our game and at our best if we are to
compete against England and we simply cannot afford to be below par in any facet of our cricket”, he added.
