Graeme Swann named England’s Most Valuable Player over the winter for the third time – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501, on Wednesday April 18, 2012 was named England's Most Valuable Player over the winter. He was given this award by a ranking system used by Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA).
This is the third time the English spinner has been named as the most valuable player, and he is as happy as the day he received it for the first time. Previously in 2009-10 and later in 2010 the spinner had won the award.
"I'm delighted to have won the FTI MVP after what has been a tough winter and it's obviously great that we're still number one too," said Swann on his latest achievement.
Nonetheless this year, the award did not come to him that easily as he faced stiff competition from fellow teammate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
“It is nice to win any award but it is especially pleasing to win one where you are compared to your team-mates on hard statistics,” opined the English spinner.
Congratulating Swann on his achievement, senior vice-president of FTI Consulting, Sebastian Mathews, said, “Congratulations to Graeme on his win, not only for this winter, but for becoming the first person to win a hat-trick of England FTI MVP awards. It was a very exciting end to the winter FTI MVPs where Graeme was run very close and this sets us up for an exciting summer of cricket ahead of us."
England, are the reigning number-one team in Test cricket, a position they almost lost this year had they not averted defeat against Sri Lanka in the second Test that concluded on April 07.

And after their demise in the first Test against Sri Lanka, things really heated up as they were on the verge of losing their most cherished top spot in the longest format of the game.
