Graeme Swann raring to go up against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Edgbaston - Cricket News Update
England's chances of rattling India in the third match of the npower Test series, which will be played at Edgbaston, received a boost when their ace-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501, announced himself fit for the match.
The off-spinner, who has had a mediocre series so far, is raring to go up against India and is preparing hard for the game. Swann is determined to end the slump and declared that his injury is not of a serious nature.
During an interview the spinner said, “I've had another X-ray on the hand just to check and it's not serious. There's a little bother in there but nothing to affect my preparations. It might affect my batting in the nets beforehand
but that will just stop me facing a few bouncers from our boys."
Swann was struck on his left-hand when he was batting in second Test against India at Trent Bridge. He was taken for a scan immediately and the initial scans revealed that his finger might have been broken.
The spinner only bowled 15 overs in the match and went wicket-less, conceding 97 runs in the process. However, Poms romped to an easy victory by a margin of 319 runs even without his heroics.
India is trailing the series by 2-0 and need to win both remaining matches in order to secure a draw. If India loses the series by a margin of two games they will be displaced from their current number one position.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, on the other hand, are on the verge of creating history as they are one win away from becoming the number one team in International Cricket Council’s Test rankings.
To further dent Team India’s chances of repressing the English side, their premier off-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364, have been ruled out from rest of the series. Both players have picked up injuries and
will no longer be part of India’s Test team.
However, the inclusion of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 in the playing XI will bolster India.
The only injury scare from English team is off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576. The right-handed batsman twitched a ligament in his shoulder and is expected to regain fitness before the Edgbaston Test.
England will announce the squad for the third Test on Sunday, August 7, 2011. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362, the English coach, opines that the final decision on whether to play Trott or not will be made after observing the player's recovery.
Flower said, “He is still in a bit of discomfort and nowhere near 100 per cent yet. We will monitor his fitness as the week progresses.”
