The only specialist English spinner, Graeme Swann, has divulged the death threats given to him on his social networking page, in the backdrop of Team England’s humiliating 0-5 whitewash in the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
However, the bowler has admitted that it is not easy for their fans to digest their demise for the time being, therefore, they are manifesting their wrath by cursing and menacing the players.
Swann was lampooned and intimidated on the social networking site after Tuesday’s 5th and final game, in which the Poms were washed out in a span of 47 runs. It was perhaps one of the worst performances in the history of International cricket.
Moreover, the spinner could not make any impact on the Indian soil throughout the series.
Talking to the media, Swann said, “Although I don't condone death threats on Twitter, I could almost understand it when I had a couple of hundred people threatening all manner of retribution after Tuesday's match. It can't be easy to watch us, not just losing
but losing the way we did."
He further told, “Not everyone in cyberworld has a perspective - after all, it is only a game of cricket. But you can almost understand why people get wound up.”
Chin has condemned this attitude of the fans and advised them to be patient rather than censuring the cricketers for just one bad series. He avows that the people should not forget England’s sterling success story of last month and their elevation to the
top spots of both Test and T20I rankings.
The Mother of Cricket inflicted disgraceful defeats over the Men in Blue at their own backyard a few weeks back, kicking them down on the points table, but unfortunately, they were not able to sustain the momentum on Indian territory.
Swann, who is going to lead his national side in the one-off T20I of the tour, hopes that the Englishmen will soon resurge with new form.
The 32-year-old has represented his nation in 36 Test, 64 ODI and 26 T20I games so far, grabbing 153, 90 and 34 wickets respectively in the three formats.
