Graeme Swann ruled out for two weeks due to injury
England suffered a blow after their leading off-spinner Graeme Swann was declared unfit for the upcoming matches against Australia.
On Tuesday, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 also got a bad news after their star batsman Michael Hussey was ruled out of the remaining matches of the series and possibly the ICC World Cup, starting in February 2011.
The good news for England, however, will be that Swann will not be out for a long time and may return to the team for the last few matches against the Aussies.
England team director, Andy Flower confirmed the news and said that the off-spinner was struck on his knee while batting in the first match played at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
He said, “He has got a slightly strangely deformed kneecap on his left knee. He got hit and it is badly bruised and it is quite painful so he won't be playing in this game and might have to rest for 10 days to two weeks.”
Flower further stated that England may give an opportunity to James Tredwell for the upcoming match but that will be decided only if the visitors are willing to play two spinners in the playing eleven.
The injury to Swann will be devastating for England as the spinner was the only bowler in the first match who did not allow the Australian batsmen to score freely. Apart from Swann, all other bowlers were hit for plenty of runs.
England have recently suffered from injuries to their fast bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad after the 2010-11 Ashes series. However, both the bowlers will be returning to the team in Australia on Friday.
Flower was happy with the recovery of both the players and said that it was a positive sign for his team.
He further added that Anderson may be a part of the team in the fourth One Day International and will not be rushed for the second and third matches.
