Graeme Swann satisfied with his performance at Adelaide Test
England spinner Graeme Swann feels his performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 during the Ashes opener at Brisbane was not of the class Test as he said he bowled "like a 12-year-old" but is satisfied with his performance in the Adelaide Test and happy
to lead the England attack on the final day of the second Ashes Test with an aim of finishing the hosts off.
"That's my job as a spinner, if you're the only spinner in the team, on the last day it comes down to you to bowl from one end and take as many wickets as you can," Swann told reporters.
Swann finished the fourth day with 2 for 72 as Australia was reduced to 238 for 4 in their second innings after England declared its first innings at 620 for 5 in reply to Australia’s first innings total of 245 all out. The remaining two
wickets were shared between Steven Finn and the occasional spinner Kevin Pietersen.
KP picked up the crucial wicket of Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 on the last ball of the day and Swann was pretty happy and quite contented for Pietersen’s achievement as, according to him, Clarke is the best Australian batsman to play spin. And now with
Clarke having been removed Swann feels the job of finishing Australia off on the final day has become quite easier for him. But the 31-year-old off-spinner said that Mike Hussey, not out at 44, would be the crucial wicket of the closing day.
"He's played exceptionally well in this Ashes, probably the second best batsman after Alastair Cook in the series so far," said the orthodox bowler. "He's a massive wicket for us tomorrow, he's a guy who can hang around and bat for days.
But we've opened one end up and we've got North coming in and he's under a lot of pressure,” he added.
Swann said that if the England attack gets Hussey early tomorrow then it would not take much time to pack things up. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northamptonshire-c824 spinner, who is ranked No. 1 in the ICC bowling rankings, entered the series with high hopes attached with him but was
disappointed with his performance in the drawn Brisbane opener. He, however, showed satisfaction over his bowling at the spinning Adelaide Oval track. "I've bowled a lot better in this game so I'm very happy," said Swann.
