Graeme Swann says Duncan Fletcher poses no threat - Cricket News
English off-spinner, Graeme Swann has said that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-c54739 Fletcher coaching the Indian cricket team will pose no threats to the English team of getting caught at their weak points.
Fletcher, who coached the English squad for eight consecutive years (from 1999 to 2007), has recently been appointed as the coach of the Indian cricket team, after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527, decided not to carry on with the job due to personal commitments.
Swann, who had an argument with Fletcher right after his debut in 2000, said that the former captain of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 cricket team might claim to know all the English squad, but in reality, he hardly knows about the game of a few players.
He said, “Fletcher knows a few of our players better than some other coaches would. But there’s a h**l of a lot of our team he doesn’t know at all. I think that will work to our advantage, because he might be trying to double guess us a little bit and come
a cropper.”
Due to the fallout with Fletcher, Swann could only play his debut test after spending 8 long years in One Day International cricket. Analysts usually regard Swann’s own attitude responsible for his dispute with the veteran cricketer.
Dwelling upon his attitude towards the game and senior cricketers, Swann said, “If I was a coach 10 years ago, I don’t think I would have picked me, and I wouldn’t have particularly liked me being on that tour. If you’re my sort of character, you soon become
quite irksome to the people around you if you’re not backing your talk up on the field.”
Talking about his own career, he said that he had been playing like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 upstart tourist and not playing him into the team was a good decision because he was not performing well.
Concluding his remarks and commenting upon the upcoming July series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at home, Swann said that it will be an interesting battle between the Number One Test side of the world and the reigning champions of the Ashes series.
