Graeme Swann suggests England should not let the win go to their heads – Cricket News Update
England’s off-break bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501, suggested that his team must retain its focus for marking another win in the upcoming fourth Test fixture against the Indian tourists, at the Oval, rather than thinking about the top Test ranking.
The fourth Test match, from the ongoing series, featuring England and India, is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, August 18, and will be played at the Kennington Oval, London.
So far, the English retain an undefeated 3-0 lead on the competition, including the hosts’ recent win at the Edgbaston, Birmingham, on August 13, where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 came out, not only as the match winners, but also earned the top spot on ICC's Test Rankings.
As of the upcoming bout at the Oval, if England marks its fourth consecutive win against the Indian visitors, the side will retain an exceptional 4-0 lead at the series, which will also seal the team as the world’s new Test Champions, an honor which the
team previously held in 1979.
However, to achieve this, Swann believes that his teammates must keep their cool and try to deliver what they served their audience in the previous three games.
The spinner said, “It's a nice feeling (to take over the top ranking) - but it's not what we are focusing on. We said before the series it didn't matter if we got to number one in the world. It's about finishing the series well and that is what we are aiming
to do at The Oval. We want to do ourselves justice in the last game - we did that very well in the Ashes. Having retained them we gave our best performance of the series in Sydney in the last game and we are looking to emulate that here.”
Swann, who has earned a minor bag of 4 wickets from three Tests, also added that England has been performing quite exceptionally in the past few seasons, hence, must not ruin Oval’s game that would hinder England in achieving a clean sheet.
The ace spinner went on suggesting that the hosts should also not underestimate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 for Oval’s game.
