Graf Figure skates question?

Hi, I live in New Zealand and a this time last year I bought a secondhand (hardly worn) pair of Graf villar figure skates.

They were alright to start with and since then they have been getting harder and harder to skate in and i cant keep my balance anymore. (I havent been skating as much now, but still)

Im wondering if its graf, or if they are getting to small? The blades are sharp.

If not, what is a good brand you would reccomend?

Thanks for your help!

  1. Maybe you need to sharpen it or maybe you need to  buy a new one. Try sp-terri deluxe. dat's for da high level. Or if da level is below 5 or 5-6 RF2 is good enough.

  2. check the screws on the blade to the boot. screws may be loose or your blade may no longer be aligned correctly. also the boot may be broken down too much which will mean you need new skates or for the skates to be rebuilt. if the were bought used chances are either of these reasons is why you are having problems. i recommend reidel champion or sp teri skates. in my experience those two seem to last the longest, be the most durable and the most comfortable for my feet. go to a skate shop and ask their advice. its hard to tell without personally seeing your skates. they will tell you if they need to be rebuilt, or if you need new ones, or if the problem is simply the blade being "wiggly". they will also give you a recommendation of skate to your foot type and level.

it also maybe the type of sharpening you got on your blade last. if you just got your sharpening it could be that. i normally got a '5' sharpening for my skates at a junior/intermediate level. but again you should talk to a professional at a skate shop and they will be able to help you best!

    Good luck!

  3. i hate grafs they just dont work for my feet, as i have quite wide feet. i got them when my jacksons broke, and i have had them for about a year and they still kill my feet

mb its because when you put on weight or grow taller, or start doing more things on the ice, like more jumps, spins  you can like outgrow your skates, so maybe you need to get a new pair of skates, that are for you know better skaters
