  1. and so he should

if your daft enough to gamble in the first place its your fault no one Else's

  2. Ok I know the obvious thing here is that he should have lost this case. However part of me feels that a lot of people are missing the point.

William Hill offer a self exclusion policy. That is, if requested, they can stop people from gambling with them.

They failed to uphold their end of the bargain, and Im a bit surprised they are allowed to get away scot free from this. Where is their corporate responsibility to thier clients?

  3. drinking and gambling does not mix.

  4. LOL!!!

What gets me about this story is the media misrepresentation of what William Hill did - all the reports I heard yesterday say that they did not stop him when he asked them to...

...what actually happened was he asked them to - so they closed his account - and he went and opened 2 more!!

If they'd closed them, he'd have applied for more - or changed his name so he could get another one!!

The court was right - he only has himself to blame!

Edit - Dave S - why is it 'ridiculous'? The man was a self-confessed addicted gambler - are you seriously trying to imply that he wouldn't have gambled any more if they had closed his new accounts too?

And as for the system flagging up his name - neither you nor I know how their IT system works - he was a greyhound trainer and had made £50K a year gambling - he knew the business and what was and wasn't allowed much better than you or I do
