Newcastle United’s chief scout Graham Carr backed the newly signed midfielder Romain Amalfitano to make an impact at the Tyneside club, but admitted he will require time to establish himself as a regular player in the Magpies starting eleven.

Amalfitano played an important hand in his side’s recent promotion to Ligue 1 from the second division, courtesy their 2nd place finish in Ligue 2 at the end of 2011/12 campaign.
The 67-year old was optimistic that the juvenile midfielder will be able to find his feet, early on at the Sports Direct Arena, and expressed his admiration for his quality and abilities on and off the ball.
While talking to reporters, he said: “He's got pace. He can play wide right, he's played centrally before, he can pass... he's just one of these who has got a bit of a chance.”
However, the Frenchman will be face an arduous task of securing a place in the Magpies staring eleven, as the midfield position is currently occupied by more experienced Cheick Tiote and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423.
The former English footballer conceded that Amalfitano is expected to remain on the sidelines during his early days at the club, but felt that he will be able to establish himself in the team with the passage of time.
He added, “He'll probably take a while to come into the starting line-up but you're not going to get a ready-made star for nothing, are you?”
“It make take a while to break in but if he works hard, I've got every confidence that he'll be a brilliant player.”
He went on to say that the Newcastle scouts are effectively monitoring the performance of the club’s possible summer targets, and was looking forward towards developing a strong and vibrant squad for the coming term.
