a massive impact at the Sports Direct Arena, helping the Toon finish fifth in the league last season, and subsequently secure a place in the Europa League.
Nevertheless Young, who has been heavily criticised for changing the name of the stadium from Saint James Park to Sports Direct Arena in an effort to catch more investors, received words of admiration from the former English footballer, who believes that
he has played the leading role in changing the situation at the club.
He also indicated that Young was fully committed in helping the Magpies make further improvements in the coming term, and is willing to go lavish to facilitate the players transfer activities in the summer.
While talking to reporters, he said: “Mike has committed himself to the club and there will be money available to buy players. As we speak we are in the market for players to improve the squad.”
Carr stated that Newcastle had set realistic targets for the transfer window, and were wary of the stiff competition that they faced from the top flight clubs. He revealed that instead of going for the talented young players of the age 16 or 17, where they
will fail to take the lead against the likes of Manchester United, the Magpies will be vying to sign young players who regularly represent their respective teams in the starting line ups.
Carr recently signed an eight year extension with Newcastle, as a result of his impressive work in landing a number of star players at Tyneside.
Speaking of the club’s new signings, the Englishman indicated that he kept close tabs on all of them before penning any deal, and they had been approached time and again in the past.
He added, “I first saw Papiss Cisse playing for Metz. He was on a Senegalese training camp they had there but he didn't have the passport to come in. I saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233...
they've been on the radar for a long time.”
