England fast bowler Graham Onions has claimed that he is enjoying cricket once again after a back injury that threatened the end of his career last year.
After a major surgery on his back in 2010, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 fast bowler is back in the county circuit this season and is now looking to reclaim his Test spot in the English team.
Onions admitted that he went through a lean patch since a year and half because the injury seemed to have finished his career at one stage; however, the fast bowler has started to love his cricket once again.
He said, “When you’ve been out for a long time there are periods when you are very frustrated, so it’s important you enjoy your cricket, especially when you get a nice wicket to bowl on. I’m not renowned for smiling on the cricket pitch, but that’s part
of my personality.
The 28-years old fast bowler made his Test debut against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in 2009 and slowly became a premier bowler for England and impressed the cricket analysts with his pace and the ability to move the ball off the pitch.
He has so far played eight Test matches and took 28 wickets at a reasonable average of 31.03 runs per wicket. He faced trouble in his back in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in 2009/10 and since then he has been out of international cricket.
It will not be easy for Onions to break into the Test team now because England has a number of quality fast bowlers in shape of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566.
However, the fast bowler from Durham is hopeful of making an international return in future because Onions feels that he has a lot of cricket left in him.
“I think there is a lot of quality fast bowlers out there at the moment and you can only play three in the England side. The guys in there are the three main ones at the moment. I missed out on the first squad and I think I knew then I wouldn’t play at all
in this series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758,” Onions added.
