Graham Onions vows to regain his place in English Test team – Cricket News
Discarded English pace bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Onions-c60618, has vowed to regain his place in the national team this summer.
The right-arm pacer has got off to a stupendous start to the current English summer, with a series of impressive performances after returning to competitive cricket for the first time since undergoing a serious back operation.
Onions is representing Durham and has looked to impress all at the start of his test career, as his defiance with the bat also came in handy for the English as they got past a hardly fought test series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
After being left-out of the team at the start of last summer, he underwent a surgery to sort out his back problem. He added that the surgery had put doubts in his mind and he wondered if he would ever return to play competitive cricket.
However, he has made an incredible recovery and looks forward to representing England against the touring Sri Lankans, this week.
Onions stated, “There have certainly been times where I've doubted whether I'd get the ball back in my hand - whether I'd still be able to bowl quickly, and be the same bowler, all those things go through your mind. There were times
when I didn't think I was going to play again.”
Onions added that he underwent some serious tough times which made him feel depressed and now, after a year down the line he is determined to make an impression and win back his English place.
The pace bowler added, “There have been tough times, and dark times. But I'm sitting here today with an England tracksuit on and with a great opportunity to play against a very good Test side."
Onions, who has an ability of swinging the ball at a high pace has had limited bowling to do this season and he is happy with how http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 has managed him during his return to action.
He made his intentions clear when he snared a five-wicket haul in his first match back against the highly fancied http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 team.
The next goal for Onions is to win more test caps for his country. So far, he has played eight Test matches taking 28 wickets, with the help of one five-wicket haul.
This summer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. Onions hopes to make his mark in the game against the Lions and win back his place although he knows that others are ahead in the
pecking order after his absence.
It remains to be seen how soon he can accomplish his goal and make his return to the game.
