http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Paul-Thorpe-c60622 praises Jonny Bairstow – Cricket News Update
England’s batting coach, Graham Thorpe has praised youngster, Jonny Bairstow for his meteoric rise in cricket and believes that the player will hopefully prove his worth to the team, aided by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 Performance Programme.
"You just don't know what opportunities are going to arise. If someone had said last year that Jonny Bairstow, coming off our performance programme, would have played six ODIs by now I'd have been very surprised, said Thorpe.
Regarded as one of the finest players of his time, the batting coach kept shouldering the burden for the team in the late 90s and early 2000s, however, ended his days prematurely after announcing his retirement in 2005.
Now performing his duties with a young crop of English players, Thrope’s next task is to assist players in making sure they equip themselves well in all conditions. For this reason the EPP tour, a three-week camp is an ideal opportunity for him to groom
the likes of Bairstow under wintery conditions of the sub-continent.
The 22-year-old’s start to the International career was astounding, however, with the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RA-Jadeja-c2238.
However, for Thorpe it is still early days for Bairstow and feels that the EPP tour will give the youngster an opportunity to make amends, and prepare himself for some tough future international assignments.
"But through his attitude and performance, he's shown that anything is possible. It's a great example for the lads coming on to the programme this year... if you work hard and make progress, you can put pressure on the guys who are in the England team,"
added Thorpe.
The EPP will also see the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
