If a family's last name end's in the letter s, how do you refer to them as multiple people?

I'm writing a book report on a book with a couple who have the last name Pilkings. When I refer to them as 'The Pilkings' how should I make it multiple people and not singular?

  1. It sounds funny, but I think it's The Pilkings'.

  2. The Pilkingses - just like you would make a common noun plural, such as: boss>bosses or bus>buses.

From someone whose last name ends in 's'.
