  1. 1-is plural.

    2 and 3 is singular

  2. number three should be singular. but i think you may get more answers if you are more specific.

  3. 1. The man, woman or child was leaving the country (only one person is leaving)

    2. Rita and her friend bought (a) dozen mangoes from the market

The verb "bought" has no singular or plural, eg "The men bought a watermelon"

    3. The women gave birth to male children

  4. 1. country is singular

    2. mangoes is plural

    3. there is no plural

  5. Sooo what's your question?

I thought you wanted the sentences made into the form you put at the end, but with some sentences it's just not possible.

For example, number 2, Rita would turn into The Ritas?

Explain your question and I will try to help! :]

  6. Men, women, and children are plural forms of man, woman, and child, respectively.

    The country is singular.

    Rita is singular.

A dozen mangoes is plural.  (Even though "a dozen" seems singular, it's a number modifier of the plural "mangoes.")

    The market is singular.

The woman and a male child are each singular.

    Does that help?

...Oh, I like Lauren H.'s answer better.

  7. I don't understand the question. But I'm going to take a stab at it (I'm not proud.)

The first sentence is plural because there is more than one man, woman, and child.

The second sentence is singular (if you're referring to Rita) or plural (if you're referring to the mangoes).

The third sentence is singular because whether you refer to the woman or the child, there is only one.

  8. I do not understand your question, sorry about that.

  9. Maybe I need more explanation. Is this what you are speaking of?

The man, woman, and child were leaving the country.

Rita bought dozens of mangoes from the markets.

The women gave birth to male children.
