Grammer question about birth announcement? ?

This isn't really homework, but I thought this would be the best place to put it. Maybe an English teacher could help me out.....

My husband is military,so our baby will be born on base in NC. I am putting a birth announcement in our hometown paper in IL. So, how do I word the announcement? Do I put "on Camp Lejeune" or is it "aboard Camp Lejeune?" I'm pretty sure it isn't "in Camp Lejeune."

Do I put something like:

Rank() and wife () would like to announce the birth of () on/aboard Camp Lejeune, NC."

Thanks for any help you can give.

  1. I'd use "in."   Camp Lejeune isn't a ship; that's when you'd say "aboard."  Best wishes with the babe!

  2. "at" seems the most reasonable to me. That giant sign is just a hearty welcome to the Camp; you could greet somebody at the door of a house and usher them in saying "welcome aboard". "in" would be my second choice but suggests a slightly different relationship.

  3. I would say, "at Camp Lejeune."

Definitely not "aboard" because Camp Lejeune is not a ship.

    Congrats on the baby!
