  1. Hi there.

Gran Canaria will be beautiful in April, so it's a great choice for that time of the year.

If it's a hotel rather than an apartment you're looking for then you're probably best in Meloneras, San Augustin or even Playa Del Ingles.

Also, be aware that some of the resorts like Puerto Rico, Taurito and Amadores are all built up high on the hillsides rising up from the sea so if you have any mobility problems, steer well clear of those resorts.

That said Puerto Rico has the best sunshine record but not many hotels. You really only have The Riu & The Gloria Palace. The rest are apartments.

Playa Del Ingles has more to offer in the way of hotels. Theres The Margaritas- they've usually got some reasonable rates, As has The Catarina,  Apollo, Buenaventura and Waikiki. The best and most luxurious are at "Meloneras" I'd probably go with  the Gran Costa Meloneras, The H10 Meloneras Palace and the Riu Palace Meloneras all excellent!

San Augustin is nice too- up-market quieter than Playa Del Ingles but very nice too. The Don Gregory is very good although a little older-fashioned maybe but still a very elegant place to stay!

If you are really looking for something quiet and away from the crowds I can highly reccomend The Gran Hotel Villa Del Conde at Puerto Mogan. Its not on the beach, but it has 5 pools and is very very nice indeed. We were there last year and had a lovely holiday, although not much in the way of nightlife in Mogan itself, the little town during the day is lovely- known locally as "little Venice" it was very pretty and we loved it!

Have a look at www.holidayhotels.com there are lots of ideas on there.

    All the best!
